Saving money has always been one of my hardships, these tops 5 ways to save money have helped me. For me money comes and goes but the tough part is when I have none. The truth is everything revolves around money but that shouldn’t stop you from having a budget. You don’t want to be that guy that dresses in GUCCI but has $50 in his checking account. Be the guy who dresses in H&M and has $5,000 in his checking account because when you are able to determine what is important to you that is when you are truly successful. An American journalist once said “It’s good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it’s good, too, to check up once in a while and make sure that you haven’t lost the things that money can’t buy.” —George Lorimer

1. Stop smoking

Not only is smoking bad for your health it also takes a big cut from your paycheck. People like you and me do not realize the damage it does because we are so consumed in it, it’s an addiction. If a person smokes a pack a day the average amount they spend in a day is $29.57, in a week it is roughly $207, in a month it starts to reach about $828.

2. Pack your own lunch

The average amount spent on lunch daily is usually $10 or less. That will include a drink and meal. Now the average person works 5 days a week, if that one person spends $10 a day on lunch it will round up to $200 a month. With a budget of $200 you can buy a months worth of food and divide it in ways that will be beneficial for you.

3. Stop buying coffee

The average cost of a small latte is about $4 with tax. Buying a latte a day rounds up to about $112 a month. The average coffee can cost around $100 – $500 and you get to keep it forever. Within 4 1/2 months of owning your own coffee machine you would off paid off the entire cost.

4. Set a monthly savings amount

Every check you receive set aside a small amount of cash. The best thing to do is to put your account on auto pilot so that easy pay period it auto deposits into savings. I understand some months will be tough but in the long term you will be financially healthy.

5. Shopping! Set a Budget!

Many people even myself walk into stores to buy one thing but then walk out with 10 other items that were appealing. Before you go to the store write down the items you need and the amount for those items. Once you do that you will never go over budget.
